Hey, how long since your filter was changed? I had a bad fuel distributor head on an old CIS porsche (it made the pump work really hard like a dirty filter would) and it made some noise.

low gas in the tank (running on fumes) also causes this.

i've read most of the "humming" noise posts and my gas tank is and always is kept full...

i was told there is a rubber grommet which keeps the pump from vibrating against other parts and this can sometimes move or fall out of position??

either way i thought it would be a good idea to replace the fuel pump this winter and i can look around when i pull stuff apart to investigate the rubber grommet.

again anyone who has a new spare fuel pump they want to sell let me know

hello William, the fuel pump is totally enclosed in a rubber housing, so vibration against other parts is
out of the question.
10 years is a good life span for a fuel pump, so a new one is not out of the question.
Source it from bosch, part no; 0 580 464 058, for a simple reason.
From bosch, the pump comes with the fuel actuator valve, whilst from porsche, the valve is an extra (40 euros in europe)
A new fuel filter is an obligation with a new pump, you do not need to change the gas tank filter

Hey GEO
What is a fuel actuator valve?
Is this what we call a check valve, intended to maintain system pressure for a short time after engine shutoff?

thanks

Craig
