Andreas, you need to move to a place where the sun shines and you drive in the winter... or I fear you may go the way of Jack in the Shining.

All cleaning and no play makes Andreas a dull boy

Seriously ridiculous cleaning there. Wow.
I am even more ashamed of my car's dirty underbelly.

Funny! The wheelwells on Old Yeller inspired me, years ago...

Honestly, those pics only represent a fourth of what I intend to clean....

I just showed the latest 2009 Andreas Cleanapalooza pics to my 5 yo son (who has a bit of a car parts cleaning thing too, which I have already exploited) and he said:

"wow, that is clean.... are there any videos of him cleaning?"
me: "oh, I really hope not"
5 yo: "why daddy?"
me: "go ask your mother"

You have inspired me! I didn't even know there was paint in the wheel wells. Are there any certain cleaners that you have used that you could share the names of? I have scrubbed and scrubbed the wells but still cant seem to get some of the road grime off. I am starting to enjoy winter time cleaning, it is rewarding!

Too bad about losing all that protective Cosmoline and grime. Your car is sure to become a rustbucket in a year or so.

Usually I just use Simple Green, and then finish everything off with 303 Protectant. With this round of mania, I've started using Stoner's "Xenit" citrus cleaner. It is the best I've found yet. Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and then agitate with a brush. It cuts cosomoline and road grime - Simple Green does nothing for cosmoline.

Sort of like all those rust-bucket 993 GT2s.....

You've got me inspired to tear my car down to clean! Especially the mating surfaces on the wheel hubs where they contact the back of the hollow spokes.

Here is the only shot I have of the dirty engine. Now that I think about it I should probably order a case as well.

Careful with the Xenit on paint and plastic because it is strong stuff.
