Andreas,

How do you get your car on jackstands that high?

I know how to jack my car, but can't get it that high.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I jack from underneath the engine case and at the extreme front of the spare tire well. Once I've exhausted the stock height of the jack, I simple place pieces of wood on the jack cup as spacers.

Interesting. . So do you 1. jack the rear as high as your jack goes 2. install jack stands at rear jacking points. 3. jack the front from the point forward of the spare tire well. 4. install jack stands at front jacking points. Then do it again with the wood blocks?

Please confirm. That is interesting. Is your car lowered? Mine is low. But I can put wood blocks under the tires.

Exactly.

Yes, it's lowered and I first drive the front wheels on to a set of short 2x6 planks. Then I do exactly as you wrote.

Are you going to teach a class on these activities? I really need to flush my brake and clutch fluid. I don't know about cosmoline though, I can't see any because of all the road grime.

Bob,
I'm currently seeking accreditation from the Shade Tree Mechanic Institute of America. Once that happens (keeping fingers crossed), I'll build a comprehensive curriculum and post it here.

In the meantime, you're more than welcome to bring your steed by and we'll get the brakes and clutch taken care of.
