I have the same question. I'm currently using a fiberglass painter's pole (at least its red - so it matches the car!).....but I would certainly prefer something more permanent, and sophisticated. I can't tell you how many times I've opened the hood only to realize the pole was just out of my reach!
And Dang - the original hood IS heavy!

The factory RS "gimmick" prop will hold up the original hood (it did mine when I had leaking shocks). But having a hood that pops open and stays (with working shocks) is so much easier. And the shocks are trivial to swap out.
