Default RS hood prop

Does anyone have pictures of how to mount the RS hood prop as far as location of the mount and the position of the prop in the closed position.
Thanks

I apologize that I hijacked this picture form another post... but it does demonstrate the position.

Is the RS hood prop lighter than the struts?

Lighter and, more importantly, your hood won't fall on your head when your shocks go bad

Yes, but the struts themselves weigh almost nothing. The real reason for the prop is that the struts are too strong for a fiberglass hood (and maybe too strong for an aluminum one). The steel hood weighs a ton.

Where can I get the RS prop? I added a Das Shield (ABS hood protection liner) to my car. I have new struts, but the added weight is too much for the struts to hold up on their own.

Where and how much $ would be good to know.

Thanks!!!!!!! Geo. B.

I used the RS rod because the struts would not hold the hood up when I was using my magnetic bra, that and it looks cool.
Bill gave me a hard time about still having the struts in so I took them out, they do weigh nothing.
I got the parts from Porsche using the ROW parts catalog. For all the parts it was about $40.

Installation requires drilling a hole in the hood, correct?

Does it require one for the plastic latch also?

Unless you are stuck on using the factory part, I like the Ultimate Hood Strut from Seine Systems. No drilling and < 4oz.

Not quite the same and a little heavier but very sturdy.

The rod and stowed position latch (steel) require drilling the hood (four holes for the rod, two for the latch).
I have no concerns about drilling or modifying the car however I want to.
If you really want to go low dollar use a fitted broom stick, which I did until I got around to installing the rod.

Does anyone know if the Seine hood prop will hold up a stock hood?
