The people who buy the garage queen cars are not as vulnerable to the market as the others....

It is simple really, someone who puts condition over price is not going to worry about a few grand. Someone that is going to pay over $70K for a 5K mile car is not down to his last $100K.

Not everyone is hurting right now...some people have made a LOT of money over the past 6 months.

Unfortunately, I am not one of them.

50k is a lot of money to me, but not a lot of money for that car. If you want to sell it, sell it and get the next thing. If money is not an issue to you, what's 10k? If you think you will find another in the same condition and miles and will be able to get it for the same or less, well, maybe. But I'd bet not.

Every seller thinks he has the car that warrants a price over market. Sure you can sit, wait and hope to find your buyer. The reality is that those who think that way wind up chasing the market, always two steps behind the bottom.

I guess it really depends how much you really want the F-car. As you probably know the F-car will have a completely different ride than the 993 as it is more GT and less raw. Probably a great daily and awesome cruiser! The sound probably isn't too bad either!

$50k is probably a decent price for our times now, but I think you're selling a little low right now. But as long as you are buying 'low' on the 575 as well, you're in good shape.

Ultimately, it's where your passion is. Don't worry...you'll still be able to come our drives 993 or not!

Best of luck with whatever you decide!

IMHO, it all depends on whether he just has a case of the "itchies" to get something else. Personally, I think the low miles, condition and options command a slightly higher price...even in this current economy. Having to sell and wanting to sell are two entirely different scenarios. Porsches are just that and not for the general public. Good cars always command a premium. I'd hate to see him have seller's remorse in a few months.

Yeah, and I got $64k CAD (~$58 USD) for my 30k mi C4S too but that was before the financial world got flipped upside down. We just lucked out.

True, but I still can't believe the way the prices on the 360's have dropped, including the Spiders.

Asking prices for over 10 mile examples are hovering around or just above 100 grand, which makes me think they can be had in the low 90's. Pretty amazing considering what these cars were selling for not too long ago.

I saw one gorgeous blue/tan spider with mid 20's for miles and they were asking in the 80's, and I'll bet it goes in the 70's.

True, I think it is still around $100k car for a good one. Many non-Ferrari people ordered these cars new, and many are poorly optioned, bad color combos, no sheilds, standard seats, ect. Also, over 20k miles on a Ferrari is like a million in the resale market. With the 430 plummeting, it probably won't be long before there are a lot of good ones in the low 90s. And I am sure there are some real nice gems that have gone real cheap in fire sales, low
70s, but I wouldn't count on finding one.

A different thought for these different times.

With all the people who are out of work, lost their homes and are wondering what the future will be, sell the car for $50K and buy a Honda!! Donate the rest of the $$$ to good causes.

I am a long standing car enthusiast but it seems almost socially irresponsible to buy a Ferrari with all that is going on.

As well...it can become a $70K Modena almost as fast....it's essentially trying to predict the market...in fact that's exactly what it is. It's trying to predict the Modena market. Will it go up to $100K or go down to $70K? If we can figure THAT out, we'll be in good shape. Until then, we just have to speculate and do the best we can.
