Default OT: What is there to do in Phoenix in January?

I'll be in Phoenix for a week in January and will attend the Barrett Jackson auction again. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there last year and did manage to get to the town of Jeremy, Frank Lloyd Wright school and do a little shopping. I think a trip to Lake Havasu and the Grand Canyon are options this year. Unfortunately it will be with a rental car. I hope to pick-up a few parts for the 993 like a slave cylinder and hose and save myself a few bucks on shipping. Are there any other suggestions P-car/classic car related or otherwise? Thanks.

All under the Otherwise category:

Grand Canyon is quite a drive, Sedona is pretty close and worth the drive. Stop at Montezuma's Castle along the way.
Talesin West (FLW's Western residence) is located north east of Scottsdale and the tour is nice.

The Coyotes and Suns play downtown.

Old Town Scottsdale is very nice.

Do you think if I show my wife the pics she will let me go?

ps I did see Talesin West last year with my wife and we both enjoyed that tour. She loves his Fallingwater house. Perhaps we will get their one day.

The way the Cardinals are playing right now, it look's like they're going to be playing some
football this January.

Hi Rinty,

Not really but the guys I'm traveling with are both industrial jet engine mechanics so they would be very interested I'm sure. Thanks.

ps Its unlikely I'll be buying another car this year. I've got one too many right now.

probably not, but maybe you can buy her an ASU shirt.

Our tour guide let my son play FLW's piano in the concert hall when we did the tour. My son was in 5th grade at the time and had just done a report on FLW. He even got to answer some of the questions from other visitors during the tour.

I do highly recommend the drive to Sedona. Sedona is really beautiful, stop by and visit the church up on the hill.

I imagine there will be some deals at Barrett now, for a change.

I'll be interested to see if they've changed their reserve policy, if it hasn't already happened.

Yeah if a '63 Dodge 330 shows up on the auction block I'm in trouble.
