Dach X with Sport Cats - Passed CA Smog
For those who are curious, my Dach X pipe with 200 cell sport cats just passed CA smog with flying colors:
HC
Maximum allowed@15mph (55 ppm) and 25mph (39 ppm).
Mine measured 16 ppm@15mph and 13 ppm@25mph.
CO
Max allowed .50% and .48%.
Mine measured 0.00% and 0.00%.
NO
Max allowed 437 ppm@15mph and 724 ppm@25mph.
Mine measured 45 ppm and 210 ppm respectively.
I have 7000 miles and almost 2 years with the Dach and highly recommend this mod!

Just an FYI on 96'-98' 993s and aftermarket CATs .....
I recently (Nov 2008) tried getting my 96' 993 C2 to pass the smog at the Ca. Referee station in S.J. Ca.
I just purchsed a FabSpeed Sport Cat, very nice sound and great performance. The problem was; it did not have a part number for the Referee station to reference against the Ca. emissions standard OB2 Ca. Compliance. When Fabspeed sent me a letter signed by them stating it was OB2 compliant, I brought that to the board (referee), but apparently, Ca. has just reinstated the CARB law in Nov 2008, stating that all aftermarket CATs must have the CARB number stamped on the CAT in order to be approved for street use in CA. Thought I would share that, if anyone need to go through the Ca. Referee station for smog sign off. They do visually check the exhaust system!!

Usually you only need to go to a "test only" station, so for most people the DACH cat would not seem to an issue.
What circumstances require you to go to referree station?

It's usually never a problem to pass on the numbers. With a car in proper working order, anyway. It's all about the visual. And Smog Check Dude usually has a hard time understanding where the engine is located in a 911.
Now why would someone be going to the referee? A waiver for readiness codes. And once you enter that Alice In Wonderland world, it's best to have your car as stock as possible!
