Default Cobra seat install 2 pin connector under the drivers seat, what circuit is it for?

I'm finally installing the Cobras i bought a while ago.
The stock seat connects to the wiring harness with two connectors;
1. one multipin connector that seems to handle the power and heated seat functions
and
2. one two pin connector that ? I seem to remember a post that said this was for body weight sensing for the seat belt circuit? That doesn't make much sense since our cars don't ding ding ding if we go beltless.

does anyone know what this circuit is for? I'd like to try to get an answer before bolting everything in place.

thanks

Craig

ok
it is the circuit for sensing if the drivers seat belt buckle is engaged.

apparently the common solution is to remove the "seat belt disconnected" lamp from the instrument pod on the dash

GACK!

There must be a more elegant solution than that?
Is it as simple as jumpering the two pins on the DME side?

thanks

Craig

Yup, there is an elegant solution: hook it back up to the seatbelt receptacle and use your seatbelt when driving. Works for me and my Cobra seats.

thanks for the obvious solution, i guess i spent too much time under the car this weekend.

But in all honesty, installing the seat belt receptacle with aftermarket seats does require some planning. B-K has some solutions, or you can drill into the center tunnel. Have no fear of drilling into the center tunnel; it's really easy.

From memory, if you dont connect this to the seatbelt piece, you wont get a light 'on' on the dash.

yes ??????

i ran started the car for about 2 minutes with the receptacle end disconnected and did not see the dash light.

i found that a bit surprising, but perhaps the interragator just looks for belt-in-the receptacle continuity and not if it's a connected testable circuit.

I ended up doing as Eric suggested, hooked it up and will use the belt. When i use the 5 point harnesses, i'll probably disconnect the 2 pin again since it's challenging to use both sets of belts

or i could just remove the bulb...................

I'll bet $5 that you do neither. The only time you'll use 5-pts is on the track, and out on track, your seat belt bulb is the LAST thing you'll be thinking about. Yes it'll be on, but it's easy to ignore.

BTW, they look GREAT in your car! I use the same seats, but that's the first time I've seen the backs painted. Now I have to add that to my list of projects, dammit...

p.s. can I ask how you mounted your seats, specifically what type of frame/adapter? Are they the wide GT versions?

Thanks, painting them prior to install burned a bit of time, but was well worth it.

I think that the mounts are BK's that i ground on to suit the fitment.
Do you still have the MS Word doc I sent you illustrating the required grinding?
If not, let me know, I'll re-send.

They are the wide version which made it a bit more challenging.
When i had the covers off for paint, i added some extra foam in the hip and torso area to better fit me.

cheers

Craig
