I was definitely looking for an AR car, though they are very difficult to find without the gray interiors (which I'm not keen on). I still kick myself everyday for not buying the car pictured below & had I not been out of the country, I would have... Very rare to see an AR car with black interior. This picture still mezmorizes me & made my girlfriend giggle when she saw it. I'll own an AR 993 some day - but I will certainly be painting the brake calipers a different color as I think the reds clash...
That said, I do love my arctic silver with boxster red interior - it is such a classic & rich combination for a Porsche. I passed on a couple of silver / black cars before buying mine & I'm glad that I did (no offence intended)... The silver exterior really accentuates the rear arches IMO & reacts to light conditions in so many ways that it always makes you take a second (or third) look.

Agreed on the calipers though.. the reds clash and mine needs new paint on those anyway..

Wheeze, you are right. I will hide in the basement next time we have a storm to avoid the lightning strikes! I just had mine out for a most perfect spring morning drive (in the sunlight of course!) and am blown away by it's beauty. I hope your new ride is treating you well!
Nick, I agree with you how the light on the silver compliments the curves of the 993. But looking at your car must say that the boxer red really looks great...especially lowered and especially with those wheels! (Did I say wheels? ) Also, I agree with you on the calipers...red is a no no. I think mine are going to get transformed from black (good) to YELLOW (really cool!) this summer.
btw, are you going to be home on the weekend of the 17th? I am going to be in the Detroit area again and would like to hook up. PM me if you like.

Arena Red is an awesome color - especially on cabs. It is a classy look, and I am fortunate I found one.
Silver is an amazing color on any Porsche. The Porsche curves in silver always remind me of an aluminum bodied 550 Spyder.

My 1st 2 Porsches (a Boxtster and a 911 ....both cabs) were Artcic Silver w/ black interior. I got very bored w/ the color combo after awhile. I do like the boxter red interior on silver cars ....gives a bit of splash. My TT now is black/black which is sweet but tough to keep clean. AR is a good option. That said, any color Porsche beats the sh_t out of most other cars!
And BTW, if anyone finds a riv blue TT PLEASE CALL ME !!!

Burning Brakes
Colors
Paint manufacturers (PPG, DuPont, etc.) publish annual surveys on color popularity. Silver, black and grey (rare on a 993) generally top the list as being the most popular car colors. At the present time. white is in the top few colors, however it comes and goes in the rankings. Over time, silver, black and grey tend to dominate luxury car color popularity - in broad terms. All the other colors tend to be second, third or fourth tier colors in terms of broad popularity. That being said, color is a personal choice, so buy the color you and like and when the time comes to sell, you only need one person who loves the color of your car. Last year I sold a speed yellow 2004 Boxster S. I received only one call about the car and the buyer paid the asking price! Just a single call in over a month of ads and the full price was paid.
