If you are looking for retro RS, get a carrera side stripe decal in a contrast color either white or black. Then, color match your wheels to the stripe. I have seen this with silver car/blue stripe and wheels, yellow car with blue or black stripe and wheels, etc.

For the photoshop pros.... Thanks for all of the feedback. I just mounted the new Sumi's on the wheels... a DIY job at the base hobby shop. The mounting machine ripped up my DIY refinish on one wheel, so I am closer than I thought to a professional refinish.

Black wheels, with painted (red) or polished lip - paint the calipers to match the body paint - don't use caliper red, though. I took my caliper paint to a paint store and they added tint to darken the light blue caliper paint I started with. I didn't add enough tint, but it still darkened the initial color a lot. You should be able to get a good match to the body color.

Just one more opinion.

I think matte black wheels with a matching 1/8" red pinstripe in the groove bear the lip would look great!

Awesome photoshop Justin! Thanks for all of the work. I never imagined this idea would draw so many strong opinions...makes me like it more!
I really like the red with polished lip and graphics....the black/polished is great too, but has been done many times over.
I just finished repairing the damage I did to the wheel when I put the new tires in. It's clear I have to sit on the idea for a while and look into graphics and a duck tail. Thanks to everyone for their comments.
