Default Porsche Pano recommends 5-50 oil

Yes, I know this has beenchewed to death, but for cars that will never see a race track, and will not be overheated in traffic witht the AC on in 100 degree weather, isn't a 5-50 Mobil 1 at least as good as 15-50? By at least as good, I mean it will be better in colder eweather warm-ups. My car gets an oli chnage whether it needs it or not evcery year, before winter when it is driven somewhat less. Annual uise is around 3000 miles per year. ZDDP level (1000 ppm Phosphorus) is close to the 15-50 level (1200), and of course I am not breaking in a new engine. Mine has 55k miles. Note I do feel the other Pano recommendation of 0-40W Mobil 1 may be over the top.
Comment out there?

Just curious - is the Pano recommendation specifically for air cooled engines? I'm no oil guru but I doubt the viscosity between the two oils at temps above freezing would differ enough to make any difference. For cold starts, I would be looking at the 5W50 purely based on viscosity.

The reco for the 993 was 0-40 and for the 84-94 models was either 0-40 or 5-50. I chose the more conservative (5-50) even though it exceeds the 993 reco.
