Transmission LSD Rebuild
I have my motor coming out for major work and want to do a tranny R&R at the same time. The transmission has option #220 "locking differential 40% LSD. The LSD sucks at the track so I'm assuming the disks are shot at 113000 miles.
My question is can I just replace the disks and have aq good LSD tranny, or do I need to replace it?
TIA, John

I did that and I am very happy with the results. GT defined the term "customer service", the disks are purportedly better than the original disks, you might get to move from 1 disk/side to 2 disk/side, and since you are reusing your own diff housing, you should not have to reshim. It is all good!

He did my LSD...works great. It costs extra if he has to remove the ring gear...you may want to do that locally...also, the freight will be cheaper, out and back to Paul Guard.

Thanks for the input. I couldn't find the discs in PET so I was wondering about my options. Lots of time to get that done while the motor get a full rebuild. Trying to do the easy "while I'm in there" items and having the motor out certainly opens up the rear. Speaking of which, I had an '84 911, ''76 911 race car and 944 and all of those combined were easier than getting the motor out of the 993.
I will say the 993 is just an awesome car! It is solid and quiet and a blast on the track. I can't see ever letting this one go, especially since it is the last of the air cooled 911's. Only regret is it's a non-vram car, but what are you going to do.
