Default Replacing Door Lock Actuator

About a month ago my 993 started refusing to lock... When I press the remote, the passenger door locks for a second, then unlocks, the horn gives a very short beep, and the car remains unlocked. The drivers door, as best I can tell, makes no effort to lock (no buzzing noise, no clicks, no nothing). I can, with some effort, lock the driver's door with the key, but it seems very stiff. I suspect the driver's door actuator and have purchased a replacement.

I've looked over the door panel removal procedure and that is not a problem. Just fishing for ideas as to what, other than the actuator, might be wrong. Also, how difficult is the actuator to get to and remove?

I'm reasonably proficient with a wrench, so if it's not too difficult, I will probably tear into the door tomorrow... Unless one of you has a good reason not to.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would first check that there is not something telling the system that another component is unlocked: trunk hood, engine compartment, gas flap, pass side door.

Terry,

I've physically checked everything... Is there a way to check via OBDII, or do I need to head to the stealer for that?

I never did the OBD check, and don't think it is on there. I was thinking more of the rubber covered door switch. Just to make sure the interior light goes on and off. In case it's connected to the locking system as the trunk latch is. May be worth a phone call to the dealer tech before you waste a day and perhaps $$ taking it in.

I just replaced my passengers side actuator a few weeks ago. Its not hard - but it does take time. You have to take the entire door panel off and take off quite a bit of the plastic covering on the door itself. If you take your time and remember what goes where - it should be easy enough. The actuator itself is nestled in a tough spot - but you can get to it.

i had the same issue and the door lock actuator was what fixed it.
the part was 928-624-211-00.
you should be able to get close to the door and hear it clicking back.

Why does it seem like every problematic electrical part in our cars (seat switches, door actuators) starts with a "928"???

I wouldn't use the ducking icon because it's TRUE! I have noticed that myself many times. <no ducking icon>

Just got done replacing the drivers side actuator. Photos after the door panel and surrounding plastic was carefully removed and location of the actuator. Problem solved

Default Passenger Door Actuator Replacement

Just replaced my passenger door actuator today. Took me about 2 and a half hours. Not bad for an all thumbs kind of guy.
