Default Nashville - no air-cooled Porsches spotted

I spend 5 days driving all over the Nashville area, and I didn't see one aircooled Porsche. Saw a few 997s, 996s, Boxters and Coxsters, but that was it, and only in the nicer areas. I was in a rental, for the record. I know some of you live in the area. Perhaps it's the mediocre a/c on our cars that keeps them in the garage this time of year?

I always have my eye out for interesting driving roads, and the Natchez Trace Parkway looks like it could be a great one, except for the 40mph speed limit, and I did see one cop on the stretch I was on (between Leipers Fork and Loveless Cafe). Are there any other great roads in the area?

Lots of great roads in the area, even a few in Nashville proper, but lots more in the outlying areas. We have a fairly active club and quite a few aircooled cars around, I just got mine back from getting a new top put on though.

The less of the air cooled cars you see......the better it is for the value of our rides!

...and to think I actually drove mine to work every day last week!

The Trace is beautiful, but don't speed! They'll nail you.

Must have been a case of not being in the right place at the right time syndrome or
being in the wrong place at the wrong time.... whatever.

Mine was in the garage as I was out of town.

Cary,
We are a sad, sad, sad excuse for being 993 friends. Unless you have moved, we live about 1/4 mile apart from each other and we NEVER hang out. What the hell is up with that? You need to get your a$$ over to my house tomorrow for some football and Porsche talk. Ole Miss game at 2:30. Brendan, you in as well? That's an order!! :-) All other Nashville guys welcome as well. This is just a last minute impromptu invite out of guilt for being a bad Porsche friend...

Air cooled party in Bwood tomorrow!! Yeehaaa!!!!!

Bruce,
Since air cooled has become a thing of the past for our beloved marque, I would guess alot of them have become either race cars on weekends or garage queens. Either way, you will see more of them on weekends. I have noticed that with regards to Porsches in Nashville over the last 20 years. Go figure, we're not LA...so people here probably baby their Porsches a little more.

Miami at Florida @ 7:00..... Go Gators!!!

Not sure what the wife has for me on the honey-do list but if I get an hour or 2 off I hope to head for the range and pop off a few rounds from my new Walther G22.

For me it's easier to get away on the weekdays since the wife is out of town then and home on the weekends.

I'm leaving for the Outer Banks in about two hours for a well-needed vacation, but thanks for the invite! Just trying to get my Rennlist fix before the 12 hour drive.

Enjoy Brendon. Looks like you might get lucky with the storms. Now if you were heading for the Keys that would be a different story....

robert...I'm signed up with kids and girlfriend today...thanks though. We will do it soon. The 993 just got the front and rear re-sprayed so I can show up in public again. The 912 is champagne yellow and with the recent spate of dry weather has seen much action. Enjoy that football.

Cheers, Cary
