bb and LA: OK, I am confused. I had thought that tge 993 mirrors were the "correct" ones, but the 964 shows two versions. Do either of you guys know the skinny on these choices. I presume that the smaller 964 mirrors are the ones you meant as "small ones." I am interested in the larger, which I understand from atan888 that the stock mirrors and guts fit the Ruf housing. Any help here?

993 Catalog - http://www.rufautocentre.com/parts/pdf/993.pdf = Nr.: R93 700 731 00

Can't help with fittment as I currently don't own either, but the two mirrors shown on page 9 of the 964 catalog are what I was referring to as the "small" and "large". In that catalog the small is the R11 700 731 00 (what LA calls 935 type). The large ones there appear to be variations on a theme; they're of the R93 700 731 XX variety. If you go the the RUF DE site (www.rufautomobile.de, which is the one I'm familiar with), they're both shown in the 993 Turbo catalog on page 3. There, however, there's only one large - R93 700 731 00. Welcome to the wonderful, wild and wacky world of RUF. There's a bunch of parts, which were available in the German catalog when I had my car converted nine months ago, which seem to have disappeared, for example. Glad I really didn't want shaved rain gutters, an integrated roll cage or even a non-airbag steering wheel. If you're really serious, I'd give Dallas a call. Go to the source.

I have the larger Ruf mirrors, the stock internals fit these housings. They are quite a bit of work to install, I did mine when I had the sunroof deleted.

Hutch: Can you give a brief description of what you went thru to get them installed? Would be greatly appreciated. Also, to verify - you used the larger 964 mirrors?

Update for those interested: Ruf Auto Center is of the mind that the mirrors won't work on a Cab because the small window is not supported in the manner of the Coupe, and the mirror attaches to the door frame. I suppose it would be possible to mount the mirror with some work, but I'm not sure I want to be the beta. BTW, the mirrors in the 964 catalog are the "correct" ones apparently; specifically, the R93 700 731 00 electric; 92- (the "92-" being 1992 forward). These Ruf "mirrors" are actually the mirror housing, and the guts from the OEM mirrors are used, including the electrical connections. At least that's my understanding. Thanks, guys, for the input.

Anyone tried this on a Cab before?

I don't know if they are 964 mirrors, they are the larger ones that work with the stock 993 guts. I have a C2S with 6100 miles, I couldn't stand the sunroof so I had Stuarts paint and body in Dallas replace the roof with a new one from Porsche. I had the entire car completly stripped to bare metal and repainted. They filled in the holes in the door from the existing mirrors and mounted the Ruf mirrors. You have to cut the moulding on the door and drill a mounting hole for the Ruf mirrors, the wiring for remote control is possible if you want. I find the mirrors are about as good as the stock ones as far as vision, I think they look better closer into the body.
