In my opinion you can’t go wrong on both models. They are very different but also very similar at the same time. And this is because they both share the “Renn Sport” philosophy. Both are very pure Porsches. The 993 RS is a huge step of the 993 Carrera, so his the GT3 Mk1 regarding the 996 Carrera. The 993 RS feels very light comparing to the 993 Carrera, and feel much faster. That because of the 3.8 Variocam engine and the lack of sound insulation. The doors are very thin and produce a wonderful closing sound, very metallic. The gearbox is excellent but not as much as the GT. The gearbox of the Mk1 is the same of the 993 GT2 and is almost perfect. Comparing both cars, the GT Mk1 is more wild and hardcore, because it benefits from a single mass flywheel wish is a wonderful issue for a race car, and not so practical for the common use. They are both a joy to drive and much more old school Porsches than the 997 GT3 RS for ex.

The cost and expense of having a real 993RS road legal in the states makes the GT3 the obvious choice. The GT3 is really good......really really good. The 996 is simple and great, the 997 is even better but with a little to much fluff. The 996GT3 with the appropriate hot rodding is the machine.
