I am helping a friend get his 993 HVAC control working. The small fan on the rear of the unit p/n 964.659.148.00 is staying on after the car is turned off. has anyone opened one of these up an tried to fix the unit?
When searching I found this wiring diagram
part 1
part 2
part 3
When the fan is unplugged the drain on the battery stops. ( well, it drops to normal levels)
anyone have an idea of what failed on this unit?

This is a common issue with the 964s, I repaired several units by just unpluging the fans. The owners didn't care if they had A/C or not so it worked for them. I believe there is a fix to replace the transistor on the PCB to resolve this problem, you might want to do a search on the 964 board.
