I did this mod a couple of years ago.. No extra noise - no downside in my opinion.. I love it.. You can come by and drive mine as well.. I'm in Laguna Niguel. I'll PM you.

Definitely takes a while to get used to driving with the lwf. I love the sound and the way the motor winds up. I would give it a thumbs up for sure.

I had this done to my 97 cab last year and loved the result. At the same time I had a B&M short shift kit installed and that is a very worthwhile mod/improvement. The noise increase on my car was minimal even with the top down. This year I had the car "chipped" and the chip was tuned for a LWF/RS clutch and it has improved the drivability about 100%. The chip is a little pricey - about $1100 total, but worth every penny as it adds some torque down low and HP in the higher RPM's. The car is now the way it should have come from the factory (and I had the M030 and Bilstein HD's done about 5 years ago). I have driven most new Porsche's up to the current 07's and I would not trade mine for any of the current cars.
