Yesterday I experienced my first 'loss of control' with my Pcar. Rain storm, slippery ground. Was making a left turn (jug handle here in NJ), and when almost thru the turn, the backend breaks loose and puts me in spin. Maybe 15mph, tops 20. I got control pretty quick, but still wound up going onto a grass median then pulling back on to the highway.
No real damage, other than pride and a little damage to the s-lip. Mud and grass stains. Repsray was planned, will get done sooner than later.
I usually don't have the car out when weather is bad, but had a bubble from pot hole in my daily commuter.
Live and learn.
Sucks... been there, done that. The margin for error in these things is incredibly small. One second you got it, the next it's got you! In any event, good luck with the fixin!!!
We've all been there.... some of us on dry pavement...
I highly recommend PCA autocross & their Performance Driving Schools as good ways to practice controlling the tail happy 911... PCA PDS cost me ~$250 for 2 full days (skid pad, threshold braking, emergency lane changes, pitch & catch exercise, and autocross) and one evening of classroom....try getting THAT kind of value for your money in ANY race school.
And I wasn't crushed when I ended up buying C4s instead of a C2. It really does keep the rear under control.
It shouldn't spin catastrophically quite that easily--unless you hit oil. What make and mileage are on your rear tires? I put on Michelin PS2s and the car handles amazingly in the wet.
I chalk it up to slick road (oil) and ****ty tires. They are older tires, with decent tread but dated.
I bought rims and tires and these were the tires on them, (S-02's), so I left them on as I didn't have time to get my newer tires (S-02A's) removed and put on the newer rims. I was amazed how easily it broke loose.
Lost control of my 95 with cold summer tires. Spun 360 hit a house and spun back into oncoming traffic. I was lucky and have respect for the limits in bad conditions. Glad you are ok.-Paul

Those things become bricks after a while, glad it wasn't worse............the pipes are ok right?
Carm, the same thing happened to me, I wasn't going fast but the spin came anyway. I was headed up an on ramp going like 35 tops and just as I thought I was getting out of the turn my car went nuts. I tried to correct but couldn't. Now I drive other cars on wet roads.
I was quite surprised with a near spin in the C4S last winter. Behaved so much like a RWD car that I checked to make sure the AWD was working! You just never know on the street when it's going to jump up and bite you.
