I started two projects on my '95 993 yesterday: install a Sirius unit to my radio and replace the pollen filters. The Sirius wasn't too hard, except it involved running wires through the firewall. Replacing the pollen filters was a major PIA and I have yet to replace the blower covers correctly (I'll NEVER replace the pollen filters again!).
At some point in this comedy my CCU stopped working. Dead. Nada. Buttons don't work, no blower, and the compressor no longer starts.
Does anyone have any idea what I might have done? I know the CCU can die, but it seems too much of a coincidence that it would choose this moment to go **** up. Given my uncanny ability to fix one thing and break another, it's far more likely that I was the cause. Any suggestions appreciated.
Figured it out. In the process of screwing around with the passenger side blower housing, the wiring harness connected to the housing managed to jiggle apart. i pushed the pieces back together and the ccu started working again.
IMHO the pain/gain ratio on replacing the pollen filer is NOT in favor of gain. Just my humble .02!
I never figured out why I have pollen filters on a Targa where I drive the roof wide open most of the time....what exactly are those filters doing? Maybe the only reason is to keep the A/C system clean....but I am tempted just to pull those expensive things out!
