I posted this a couple weeks ago. I bought the transmitter and key head with light from Pelican. Transferring key and circuit board to the new transmitter and key head took all of five minutes. Nice mod.

I did this about a month ago, right after buying my 993, and the entire process took less than five minutes. This site was very helpful: http://p-car.com/diy/key/

I ordered the key fob parts direct from my local dealer, along with a spare immobilizer (my 993 only came with one). I probably should have shopped around, since I am sure I could have gotten them for much less than I paid. It took about a week for all of the parts to arrive.

Good luck.

Silver or gold crest? I'd like a silver one.

I did the $65 eBay thing and it was perfect. All brand new Porsche parts. Best price around. My local dealer wanted much more than $65.

OK, I'm an idiot. I'm having a hard time removing the key from the switchblade housing. Can someone help me understand the secret? Thanks.
