Hi,

The Texas Rangers next play Oakland in September. Saturday 9/13/08 is a day game, and C.J. should be able to join us for a post-game gathering. Last gathering at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company we had a good time, except that both the people and the cars were scattered. I think I have a better venue for the 9/13 meet.

Time: Saturday 9/13/2008. 4 PM on.
The Venue: Sanborn County Park, 16055 Sanborn Road, Saratoga, CA. Costanoan Site.

This is a lovely setting with large green lawns for the kids (very family friendly), and lots of parking for our Porsches. The seating/BBQ area is under one roof with nice facilities close by. The area can easily handle a group of 100 people. Here are a few pics of the park and BBQ area. I have paid for the day use ($241): 8 am till whenever.

For you drivers, this is 2 miles from Skyline (35). You guys can go for a fun drive anywhere from San Mateo to Big Basin along 35. I will be busy with the party and cannot lead a drive that day. But feel free to organize your own drives.

Now the party logistics:
I will provide all the sundry items: name tags, plates, cups, utensils, napkins, paper towels, table cloths, garbage bags, cooking tools, briquette, cutting boards, butter, etc. Last but not least, a good time for all.

Beverage: please BYOB (beverage), including water/soft drinks etc.
Ice: We will be there by 4ish to set up, so whatever ice we bring could melt. If you can bring ice in an ice chest that would be nice. Please let me know when you sign up.

Food: This takes some planning and input from you all.

I will have sufficient BBQ food for my family and all out of town guests. My typical fare: Rib eyes, chicken, links etc. If you wish to bring your own food for BBQ that is fine. If you want me to provide BBQ for you, please indicate that when you sign up. Depending on how the sign up goes, I can add ribs, lamb, pork etc. I will then let you know how much to chip in to help defray the cost of food and venue rental. I’m not here to make money, but I can’t feed the entire group either.

If you wish to bring food to share, I suggest chips/dips, salad, fruit, bread, desert etc. Dishes may not fare too well if they get cold. The BBQ will be the hot food. Again, please indicate that when you sign up.

The event is now on our "offical" kitchen-wall calendar, so we're there for sure!! It will be Amy & I once again (our first "empty-nest" social event!)

At this point, we'll plan on bringing our own vittles.
