Default FS: Custom alcantara-wrapped 3-spoke GT3-RS style steering wheel

Well, as much as it pains me to part with her, I am officially selling my coveted steering wheel. Many of you have seen my posts and meticulous attention to creating this special wheel. However, after a wee-bit-o-contact with a tire wall at WGI a few weeks ago, I now have come to the conlusion that my car is on a one-way path to becoming a track ho.

Consequently, I've ordered a non-airbag wheel and quick-release setup and have decided to part with my baby.

In a nutshell, here's the steps that I took to create this masterpiece over the winter:

1. Painfully hunted and eventually found a 996 three-spoke wheel from a 2004 GT3.

2. Sent the wheel to Don at Dallas Custom and had the wheel wrapped in black alcantara, with 1/8" padding and silver stitching, and placed a yellow leather insert at 12 o'clock (a la 997 GT3-RS style). paid $340

3. Ordered a new silver crest airbag from porsche dealer ($522.81 with shipping) p/n 996-803-980-03-8YR. Was on backorder from Germany and took nearly a month to arrive. Remember that airbags have a certain shelf life (porsche says 8 years). I didn't want to purchase a used bag, as many 996 bags could be as old as 9 years at this point.

Since installation, I think I've put about 1,500 miles on my car (99% of those miles were to-and-from the 4 DEs I did this spring at VIR, Shennandoah/ Summit Point, Pocono, and Watkins Glen. She's in great condition and looking for a new home.

I'm asking $950 plus shipping.

First pm with committment to buy has dibs (not first guy with questions). 24 hours for paypal payment, then I move down the line.

What a purdy SW! Someone is getting great deal. I should know since I had an exact copy made. I get compliments at every event. The feel of a 3 spoke wheel wrapped in alcantara is priceless. Good luck, Glen!

It is a stock 996 three-spoke wheel. No difference in diameter; however, 1/8" padding was added to make the wheel thicker

I've got almost the identical wheel. Looks and feels great! That would look nice in a yellow car.

If I had to have an airbag wheel in my car, this is the one I would want. Looks sweet.
