If you're changing fluids, if the brakes haven't been bled/flushed in 2 years, I would suggest doing that as well....your slave cylinder (unless this is a tip) will thank you.

+1... that's been on the top of my list when I first buy the car. I delayed a bit on my 993, but just got it done during the last trip to the shop.
Sounds like you're on the way! Post pics when you get them!

Yikes, don't spend $2600 on Litronics, get the $200 kit, anyone can install it. Plenty of people around here have done it and can help you. Takes about an hour to do.

I've had problems with aftermarket kits before. I want to stick with Porsche parts when I can, so I'm going to do the Litronics. Hey, we're going to have matching cars! Woo hoo!

Boston911, congrats on the PPI.
Here's a suggestion. You may want to consider getting a new battery installed while you're having some of the other incidentals looked after. Unless the car has paperwork showing a recent new battery purchase, I honestly cannot recommend skipping this.
I bought an '88 928 S4 from a Rennlister last summer, and while the car has surpassed my expectations on every imaginable level, and shows a pampered, well maintained history, the battery gave up the ghost after 2 months of ownership. I wasted an entire weekend reconditioning and recharging the battery, all to no avail.
Don't take the chance, especially if the car is only going to be taken out on weekends. Start with a new battery. Trust me. You won't regret it.
Also, in 2003, I bought the factory litronics kit after about 2 years of owning my 993. The stock halogens are hideous on this car. At the time, the kits were going for around $1600. I was on vacation in Florida, and I paid an indy P-car mechanic in Ft. Lauderdale about $200 to install the kit. Honestly, despite what you're hearing here, the full litronics installation, IMO, is not for the faint of heart. I wouldn't have had a clue what to do. Regardless, I am very happy with the OEM litronics, and the kit is an essential upgrade.
Regards,
Rick

Congrats! As far as Litronics go, I have a set of aftermarkets as well as probably dozens, if not hundreds on this site with only perhaps 1 failure that I read about. You can always go the aftermarket route at the beginning and then, if not happy, go the OEM.
Take care

Thanks, guys. 95FL993CAB, do you have the matching Turbo bumper for your car? If so, could you post a pic of the front? I am planning on doing one over the winter. The car will be stored in my friend's extra warehouse garage bay. He is an amazing VW restoration guy (www.401restos.com), and rents out two extra bays for storage of customers' cars. So while it's hibernating, he will replace the bumper.
As for the Litronics, I really want to use genuine Porsche parts. I am DEFINITELY NOT going to try and attempt it on my own no matter how easy people say it is. I am trained to do eye exams all day, and have no training whatsoever on automotive mechanics. The most I've ever done was to rebuild a bottom end of a friend's VW with her and her father watching over VERY closely...

Hello Boston911Fan, I "only" have the OEM turbo wing. I am right now working on front and rear turbo bumper purchase. I can tell you that I L O V E the wing. I was a bit ambivalent, but I am glad I did it. It completely transformed the car. That change, along with the wheels and height change updated the look and are just stunning (IMO of course). I do admit that I had help with the litronics. Please post pics of the car when you get it.

Heya Boston
I bought a 993 from Tim about 16 months ago, and whilst it was top dollar, I had no real suprises, and no regrets. I reccomend him as a professional stand up guy, who stands behind what he sells.
Hope it all works out well for you too!
Cheers

Thanks, ppashley, I was shaking all the way to the post office while mailing Tim the check, and praying to my late mother to stop me if it was a bad idea. Hey what VR6 did you have? Jetta, GTI, Passat, or did you sneak in a last year Corrado?
95FL993CAB, I absolutely LOVE your turbo wing! I am torn because I also love the sloping back of the retractable wing. I grew up in the 80s, and always admired the huge whale tails, and thought that a turbo wing would be a great throwback to the 930 Cabriolet (which was what I was originally going to buy BTW). So, for now, I'm just going to stick to the standard tail, but if I ever decide to do the Turbo tail, you'll be the first I contact before I make any decisions. I'd keep the old parts, too. Hey, can you post pics?
