I'm in theprocess of importing my 2nd car to Canada in the last 12 months. With the price of P Cars up here, one would be dumb to ignore your cars. Sorry but your loss is our gain. We'll take good care of them for you.
Now if only the Blue Jays could figure out how to hit to go with the great pitching they have.

Not only Porsches, but many vehicles. SUVS are a big export item for us too, and the export demand has actually held up the value of the big SUV a bit in this country, although they are weak. We have shipped 36 997s to Europe with one Swiss distributor alone, and just received another order for "10 of the 997s, any mix of coupes and cabs".

I'm glad someone started this thread b/c this is exactly what I discovered when trying to sell my '98 993 cab in the spring. Nearly everyone who inquired on the car explained they were planning on shipping it overseas, usually to Germany. One guy even called from Morocco and was willing to buy sight unseen and arrange for shipment to Casablanca. Here in LA it's very easy to buy a car, drive it to Long Beach and ship it overseas.
In the end I came to my senses and pulled the car off the market. She's now sleeping peacefully in my garage as I type...

When I was looking for my 993 two private sellers had interest from Germany. The first was asking too much and told me had two Germans interested. The second was a rough C4S that sold on ebay to a German buyer.

A weak dollar means everything is on sale. Us Canadians know all about this. It was only a few years ago that our dollar was $0.65 US and many cars headed down south. Now things have reversed. Unfortunately the dealers still think the dollar is $0.80

A guy that I work with sold his 88' Cab to a buyer in Germany last week they paid 30K for the car. I couldn't believe it. In addition the buyer paid him to drive it from Denver to San Diego to have it shipped out. It was a nice car but not that nice. I have been thinking of letting my car go after I saw that happen.

I'm French but I live in the US and I bought my first 993 a few months ago. When I compare 993 prices between France and the US, it's about the same figure but it's not the same currency... It takes $1.6 to make 1 euro... so the cars are 60% cheaper over here compared to France. Even with the shipping, taxes and modifications required, you save money buying here compared to buying in France.
The best deals are for some French guys working with me here in the US. They come over here for a few years, buy cars, and take them back with them tax free and shipping paid by the company. Already three 964's bought and one 993 (not counting mine). Parking lot starts looking like a used Porsche dealership :-)
