Removing my Rear Seat Delete
I'm seriously considering removing my RSD so that I'll just have space behind the seats and not the little boxes that are tough to get things in and out of and a ledge that is too high to put anything on when the top is up.
I did a search and back in Dec. 2003, "Dave in LA" said "To remove the RSD you only need to remove the two fastening bolts and unclip the wire harness for the bin locks. Installation is only slightly trickier - I had to sit on mine to put some weight on so that the fastener would align with the bolt holes. It should only take 10-20 minutes max to remove and reinstall."
Has anyone done this? Is it really this easy?
Thanks!

I just removed my RSD to install rear seats. I unscrewed the two bolts and pulled the RSD right out. Less than 10 minutes. If you have a coupe, there are no wires to unplug as there are no bin locks.
Now installing seats is another issue...

Is there a commercially available option that deletes the rear seats, but doesn't have the locking compartments and high shelf? Has anyone improvised anything that does this?

Yes, on a cab it's crazy easy. Just unbolt those 2 bolts, unplug the harness, lower your top (and by that, I'm referring to your car, but I suppose you ... well, forget it), and lift out. You'll probably want help because it's bulky and a bit heavy. I actually used a ratchet hoist that I slung around the roof beams, lifted the RSD out, then just left it raised up in the air until I wanted to re-install it.

Thanks for the great info... I'll be hanging on to the RSD for a bit until I'm sure that I'm happy with the results. If I decide to sell, you guys will be the first to know.
It never fails to amaze me how guys can turn anything into a boob joke!
I like the storing it in the air idea... I've got a tight garage... Hmm... let me rephrase that for all of you with dirty minds... I mean a garage that is just wide enough for my two cars and not much else...

I have been searching the threads and everyone mentions the effort.... but what is exactly involved?
Cheers....
We need to get the turbos together some time.
