C6 Z06, Less Than $50k Now
Hi,
Slow Saturday afternoon. Lazily looking through Autotraders etc. and see that some 2006 C6 Z06s (albeit about 28k miles etc.) can be had for less than $50k. That's still not high miles by any standard
I am not buying any car, let alone a Z06. But when we went on the Texas road trip. I thought that if I was going to be doing a lot of road trips, it'd be a shame to beat up my Ruf. Then a car like a Z06 will give me 100% of the performance, and 85% of the driving comfort and enjoyment. It has good luggage space, and very decent mileage to boot. And I would not care less about beating up a Corvette on road trips.
Back when the C6 Z06s first came out, they were going for $25k over, and most were pushing $100k new. Amazing how far the prices has fallen in just 2+ years. This is getting to be a decent buy now.

C6 Z06 is a very very capable car.
change the brakes and suspension, i am afraid it will show it's *** to most GT3.

I have a friend who bought a 2001 red convertible 6 speed (non-Z06, obviously) that he never drives. He was convinced that it would hold it's value. He paid over $50k for it. He is now hoping to sell it for $28k with 6000 miles on it. He's not getting too many offers....
I love the new Z06 model. Ran into a guy at a gas station one day and he gave me a ride. WOW.

Very true. There a plenty at the track I go to. I can't keep the models straight but I though the newer C06 had the same HP as the old Z06. With a few mild engine mods and I think you can hit 500hp quick.

And C6 Z06's are languishing. Two sitting at one of my Chevy customers for months. Just no money around now for that stuff. We're putting machines in another car dealer next week, and they want a commission all of a sudden! Yeah, a dime on each soda and candy bar is going to keep you in business.........

No mods necessary. The C6 Z06 is 505 hp straight from Bowling Green.

My brother bought a 2008 Z06 last week and I drove it this weekend. It is an amazing package, especially for the money. The interior is much improved over his older C5 Z06. The seats are nice, very comfortable but supportive.
A bit rainy so couldn't really air it out too agressively but tons of torque pretty much anytime you need it. To me it still has that big car feel that is a little uncomfortable after so much time in the 993.
Happy he got it so we can swap at will.......

I think this is Vette head weekend in NorCal. I think i remember seeing some billboard on 101 about a Vette show in Palo Alto or something? I wouldn't mind owning an old one - don't think i could see myself in a C06 yet. might need to let it age a little more.

I know what nota_troll means though. The C5 Z06 is a "notchback" which has very distinguishable roof line from the hatchback. Although the C6 Z06 has a fixed roof, it remains a hatchback. I too, prefer the notchback vs. the hatchback.
