I sold my 997TT after one full year with it and bought the 993TT to replace it with no regrets the fact is the 997TT left me cold.

Wasn't there a thread about all the people selling their 993s just a few weeks ago?

Why not go all the way with a GT3 RSR?

I never said anything about the new ones being poor quality! I would like to own a 996tt or 997tt, I have heard that they were doing a lot of engine changes on newer models, you dont here that about 993s.
I like the newer models too, I just dont think they have the feel of the 993, and in many ways the the later models are more superior in performance and luxury, and I guess that could be good or bad depending on your taste.

Truly, I'm not a car guy. Until now, with the 993. I let my subscription to Scientific American run out, and now I read Excellence and all the UK Porsche mags...993's are insanely great.
I want to buy newer models too, preferably 996tt or GT3, but only in addition ot my 993.

If I'm gonna blow a wad of cash on a car some day down the road, I could see myself getting a used 997 or 998 or whatever 911 might come after it. Or I could just keep fixing (and fixing up) my 993 unitl the cows come home. Let's see... rebuild engine (in some hopped up state - 9m, etc.)... fix tranny (re-gear)... better A/C (there's gotta be a way!)... paint... etc. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

Maybe on the initial quality survey. Love to see similar on a 5 years old/60K mile query. Or the 10yr/120K. Except for the 2.7's, I've not seen where the newer car compares favorably in quality of materials and workmanship to the older.

Uh yeah. Hell, it was said on the 2.4L cars with the 915 and factory installed A/C v. the short wheelbasers when I got into things in '80. I was roundly ridiculed at my first Porsche Club meets for getting a '68. (All I could afford when I was 18, sorry.)

SC's were absolutely plush v. early CIS cars. 3.2 Carreras with G50's were luxury cruisers compared to a '78 SC. Then they dropped the 964 on us, and here we are...........

I have a 'new-car repellant': namely my Ruf BTR. And that includes the 997GT3 and the GT3 RS.
