MANUFACTURED FOR NON US MARKET

If it's a Canadian spec 993, the changes are minor. One difference is that the Canadian 993s come with daytime running lights; the fog lamps are always on when you start the car. The other difference is that your speedo and on-board computer would be in kilometers, not in MPH. There may be other little things, but nothing major. Canadian spec 993s are US crash and emissions compliant in all 50 states.
One big plus may be that if you decide to sell your Canadian spec 993 down the road, you may be able to command a higher price for it, if you sell it to someone who lives in Canada. The reason is he won't hafta make any expensive modifications to bring it back into Canada. From what I understand, 993s in Canada sell for a higher price than in the US, and since the car is already compliant to Canadian laws, you can command an even higher price, maybe 10-20% more.

There is no doubt Cdn cars are thought to be more valuable in Canada than US cars even though there is little difference. 993's in general are worth more in Canada than the US. The cost to get the daytime running lights activated is about $200 (I just did it) plus about $200 to get it through RIV Canada. A Canadian car might have the child seat restraint tethers also.

One thing I have noticed is the on the first lever on the steering colume its listed as MENUE not MENU. The speedo is in mpg and the odo is in mpg as well as the is computer digital miles as well. It does have the driving lights on all the time which looks cool to me.
According to the carfax it spent 16500 miles roughly in Canada, then imported to the USA in 1999.
This is not a big deal to me, its just an interesting fact on the car.
