Default Good Mechanic in Salt lake City?

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in SLC? My last visit to the dealer was less than ideal.

Thanks

Motorsport of SLC---they have done about $6k in work for me--60k tune, suspension upgrade, oil changes, brakes. They are doing my upper and lower gaskets sometime in the next week or so.

I have a place up in Bear Hollow (right below Olympic Park) and was there today at the pool with the family and some friends and their kids--bbq at the pool. Nice day and loaded up our 2 1/2 year old in the 993 and drove up there from Sandy. Love the I80 drive up there!! Need to have a 993 gathering sometime for those in the Valley and PC.

Also sent you an email.

Tell them Carter Williamson refered you.

What kind of car and what kind of work?

Motorsport is good if you need routine maintenance for your aircooler or for anything to do with a front engine watercooler.

If you need any kind of major work on your aircooler or anything done on a rear engine watercooler I'd recomend Air Power Racing in Ogden.

I have to disagree 95 C4 993 on Alex's Autohaus. I won't take my Porsche there again. I went there to have them check for ECU codes and they told me I needed a new fuel pump ($800) because it was noisy and was throwing a code. The code was for the DME relay and the 'noise' was the oil circulating.

Les up at Air Power Racing has great reputation. The only reason I do not go there its way out of the way for me. Its about 60 miles from my house.

Alex did my LWF and clutch, seals, and a few other misc. things. No issues from that prospective.

Motorsport is my prefered mechanic these days.

Air power is a great shop. Very fair and tremendous experience.

I'm just looking for the basics, oil change, etc. Motorsport is very close to where I work.
I would actually be taking three different cars there: 97 993, 06 cayenne S and 02 996.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't see too many 993's on the road in SLC. We should get together sometime.

Garrity or Dave at Motorsport can certainly take care of that for you. And I like to wander around in their store (ebay warehouse) and see what they've got stacked in there.

There are a few 993s around but not many are driven too often. md11plt of PC is on this board. He has a beautiful 993, arena red of course.

Have you checked out the Intermountain Region PCA? There is a Mt Nebo tour this Sunday the 8th and a track day the the 21st. Check it out here: IRPCA Google Group. I'm usually game for cup of coffee, or breakfast, or a drive.

Thanks!

I actually just moved to Georgia. After Maxjet went bankrupt, Jenn got hired at the same airline (World) where I work. I will miss PC, but at least I can afford to buy stuff for my car again. And after all, isn't that what's most important?

I trust Larry Mouton at Dave Strong Porsche to work on my GT3. I haven't had any problems with the 964 Speedster, and so do all preventative maintenance myself at the track garage. I have yet to work with Motorsports, but have experience with Concours Autowerks, Air Power Racing and Ken Garff Porsche.

Concours and Ken Garff are good guys, just not as *meticulous* as I would like. Regarding Air Power Racing, I understand that Les might be walking away from the business. I also understood this past winter that he was trying to limit his business to race cars only...

You have a nice collection of PCars. As I commute to SLC daily, I guarantee that we have passed each other on Parleys. What are the colors of your cars? I always pay close attentioon to PCars!

MD11PLT - Sorry to hear that you moved. I remember seeing your car around town during the summer months.

My 993 is a black cab and my Cayenne S in gray. The 996 c4 cab is my parent's car and and is gray as well. I drive the 993 everyday I can even in the winter if I can get out of my driveway.

Maybe a gathering up in Park City one of these days this summer.

Too bad they wouldnt pave that last mile or so on Guardmans pass because thats a scenic drive from Big Cottonwood Canyon to Park City or the other way around. I have taken it a few times in the C4 but its a dust bowl and rattles the fillings a little.

Numbers differ per source, but around 408 imported to the US for 1994 model year. Total production including ROW is just a bit over 800.

I saw a *mint*, low miles (5K) red 89 Speedster with Utah plates in Park City last summer, and the summer before ran across a white 94 with Texas plates also in Park City.

And a Park City or SLC fun run would be appreciated!
