First week with my 993
So I finally found a 993 this last weekend. I started my new job Tuesday and where I will be commuting farther than I was before. So i figured why not do it with a big smile on my face. Traded my Acura RSX Type-S for this car, and can't stop smiling since I drove this off the lot. I have lots of newbie questions, but will save them for this weekend. So far the commute is awesome, gas doesn't matter to me until it gets over $8 a gallon, and seriously who wouldn't want to rack up major mileage on one of these cars?????

basically i will be ordering pss10's and put them on sometime this summer. might special order some Volk RE30's if they can be made (they take about 6-7 months for custom orders), and hopefully I can put a Recaro SRD seat in for the driver =). And then this car will be something i will never part with. I can't even figure out its limit which is awesome. So these mods will slowly go on the car over a longer period of time. I would never have believed anyone if they said this until I was driving it, but I had a guy driving a yellow convertible Murcielago driving next to me catching up in traffic and he was either looking at me or the car, but for sure keeping pace with me. Damn the 993 is beautiful inside and out.
I used some fine sand paper to wet sand the tips. I then finished the job with my dremel. I bought a felt polishing wheel attachment, and some blue magic metal polishing compound.
Look in the DIY section. Most guys use a simple cloth polishing wheel and some polishing compound. It might be a lot faster that way. It took me a few hours.
The initial wet sanding had the most dramatic effect since my tips were badly oxydized like yours.
Here is how they look now: the picture does not do them justice at all.

Congrats. I remember just over a year ago getting mine. I can tell you the feeling doesn't go away. Every time I go out to the garage I get that same stupid grin on my face, just like I did when I saw it for the first time
BTW, may want to look on ebay for some larger tips. c5corvettedude (think thats his ebay name) sells them for about $85. Totally transforms the rear of the car!

Very nice!
I think sandpaper and the Dremel are stronger medicine than what is needed. I used English Custom Polishing's Hot Environment chrome polish and got great results:

Their stuff is excellent. No affiliation. Read through their website and see why their stuff is so good.

Congrats!!! Yeah, as my daily driver, I am a happy 993 commuter for coming on 8 years now. No love loss there; the addiction only gets worse ...in the best way, of course
