Default what kind of headlight is this?

Is this the Litronic headlight? I've never seen one in person, but the hole in the light is very different. Is it possible to install these on a regular headlight 993?

From the angle of the photo I put up , it looks like it has an opening. But, if you think about it, that part would fill with water and debris. He must have a very clear lens over it.
You'll have to cut me a bit of slack, I'm new to these cars

Jason,
That's my 993 I do have the Porsche Litronic headlamps but the lenses were covered with a very thick clear bra material for the last 10 years or so. I recently removed it and also cleaned the inside of the lenses. No more, no less.

I put new glass on my 993 and was amazed with the difference they make--really freshens up the front.

You can get them cheap here (and, yes, they are the Bosch):

Those are Andreas headlights...

The reason you see the hole is because that car is so squeaky clean that it doesn't look that there is an actual piece of glass there.

Some say that he goes to the extremes of calling a bug exterminating company to kill any bugs in a 10 block radius from his house before he takes the car out for his monthly outing.

This post has me excited. For whatever reason, I thought I had read that Litronic headlamp assemblies were sealed. I have OE Litronics and the lens are pitted badly. I just had a front end respray and now the pitting on the headlights shows up even worse.

I was ignoring them, because I thought I would have to replace the whole assembly. According to this post I was wrong which makes me happy.

Adreas-you have Litronics and cleaned inside them which leads me to believe the lens are removable....correct?

Is their a DIY somewhere or is it pretty straight forward to remove and replace these.

Jeff's link indicates that the cost of new lenses is not bad at all.

Is it really this simple? Order new ones and swap them out??? I'm getting my clear bra done in two weeks so I if this is the case I want to get them ordered and in place so they can clear bra the new lenses.

Are these an item Sunset would be competitive on?

Thanks all....great post!

For some odd reason these are cheaper through Autohauz... I've ordered a couple of sets from them over the past couple of years. You might want to price Sunset to see if things have changed. The pair with shipping run about $120 IIRC.
EDIT: looks like they went up a little at Autohauz. As you posted above, 68.40 each. They were about $55 a couple of months ago.

For the most part they pop off and pop back on.
Some units have a couple of the plastic tabs melted to the main housing. No big deal to break it loose. I have used a dremel to slice it loose in the past but most times you can just snap them loose with a screwdriver.
DIY here: http://www.pcarworkshop.com/index.ph...ing_Headlights

You will be amazed at the difference it makes to the overall appearance of the front end.

That's exactly how I did it too. Just cut the heat staking with a dremel and carefully unhook (pry back) the locking tabs. Insert the new headlight glass covers and snap in place (no restaking necessary). Done.

HUGE difference.
