I do not know if it's cheapest as the Brad Penn is tough to find but LN Engineering (which is Charles Navarro's shop I think) sells it. I believe Steve Weiner's shop also sells it if you live on the west coast.

Please doublecheck this information.

I switched to BP on the last change and so far so good. No noticible changes in engine temp on hot (over 100) days that I can see.

I seriously doubt it will ever be solved. It will always give us something to discuss/argue about, no matter what brand of vehicle you drive.

Here is another place that will ship Brad Penn immediately:

Kennedy Oil Company Inc.
High Point, NC
(336) 885-5184

At the time I ordered it was around $38/case plus $9/case to ship.

Does one take the engine tray off or leave it on with BP?

Steve Weiner sells it, as well. Not sure on price.

ANSWER: You take it off because you no longer need it to catch the leaks.

You guys can run whatever you want... Im running my pappy's stash of Kendall. He bought this barrel when hed run run up to Amish country for soft pretzels. If you look in the drum its still the good ole' green stuff. I think Im getting a little low now so I think when I run out, Ill sell my 993. You know these cars are ticking time bombs when running a modern SM rated motor oil...

For all of the Mobil 1 blind faithful: If you can't find GM EOS or don't want to do the STP 4 cyl. treatment (red bottle), Red Line has an anti-wear "break in" oil that can be used as an additive:
http://www.redlineoil.com/products_m...p?categoryID=1

I'm told that Red Line does not plan to reduce their ZDDP levels (as mentioned here previosuly) but also adds sulpher to increase anti-wear properties over a greater temperature range.

Aren't we also still OK with Swepco? I thought their 15- formulation would be preferable to 20- BP in colder areas? Or maybe most of us don't drive our 993 in the winter anyway...

Chuck, did you speak with a Redline tech? I'm running RL 15W50 mixed with a few quarts of their 5W30. If RL goes the way of M1, I'll run the Total, or Motul 300V.

I got 2 cases from LN Engineering, we are both in IL, so shipping was quick and did not cost that much.

Ok, I think I've got it now. This oil thingy is really confusing.

So, Sean Penn, not Brad Penn, has his own oil and is on the Hugo Chaves Racing Team and Brad Pitt, also not Brad Penn, uses some sort of oil on his own Racing team?

What does this have to do with Porsches? I will admit though these technical discussion are fun and informative!
