Default OT: Mans Best Friend

I live a block away from a great hiking/biking/and horsebacking place called Dimple Dell. Basically, its a place I frequent to unwind. The views are incredible and its just a nice place to hike around and chill out.

We went for a walk a few hours ago and took a couple of nice pics of Champ and my son Nathan. Champ is 130lbs and he walks my son--its funny. He walks me as well.

Mans best friend is turning 10 this year and still has a lot of spunk and has a heart of gold when it comes to people and my son. He's a great dog.

Great pics

I'll bet you're going to have a lot of fun with that boy.

And there's something about big dogs and mountains that make a good match.

Man's best friend? You bet, no matter what they're ALWAYS happy to see you. The only thing they want is to be with you. How great is that? It's like having your own groupie without the hassles!

we have a yellow lab (Hogan) who is about 7 yrs old... he looks exactly like the dogs in this thread...

we found out last week that he has kidney failure... he is back at home with us now, but it doesnt look good... my/doctor instincts are that we are about a week out from a tough decision... I mention this not to be a drag or bring the thread down, but a humble suggestion that you enjoy your furry friends while you can and not take a day for granted...

we are trying to figure out what the story will be to my 3 yr old son... any experience/suggestions on that front are very welcomed

Here's a good link in helping children deal with the death of a pet.

Sorry to hear about the family friend. If I ever have to cross that path, I will have the vet come to the house to put Champ down. He will probably die chasing tennis *****--its his life passion besides riding in SUVs.

I was going to buy a security system but I thought the money was better spend on a Canine security system so I did. a lot of people get rotwilers but I went with the stealth model Here she is watching the house from a stealthy location.

JT, sorry to hear about your lab. I have lost 3 dogs during my lifetime and is truly a loss. I know that you have more than one dog, and that does help. A new puppy helps too, but you have your hands full these days.

Sorry to hear of this Jonathan. It is never easy. I have a golden retriever, about same age, who has cancer, but in remission. I truly know how you feel.
Hang in there.
Is it Mr. Sullivan that is ill?

This is a great thread! It's amazing how much animals can give us on a spiritual level. My fury best friend runs to me every day when I get home, cheers me up when I've had a rough day and never leaves my side when feeling sick. Having a dog is special. Cherish all animals.

Thanks. No, this is Hogan, my yellow lab. Mr. Sullivan (my Basset Hound) is as stubborn and floppy/dopey as ever...
