Default Euro 993 in US questions

So I'm looking at a '96 C2. Euro delivery car with a VIN of WP0ZZZ99ZTS314414

Other than the sidemarker lights on the fenders, what other differences are there? This one has a rear roof mount antenna that the owner swears is original. Is that possible?

Interesting, I thought only the North American market got the bumperettes?

If it is a Euro car, wouldn't it be OBDI? A collegue of mine has a '97 Targa back in Germany, and because of the need to convert it to ODBII, he hasn't brought it over.

Maybe the bumperettes were added when it was imported?

If all the paperwork is in order and the car checks out, would one expect any sort of meaningful discount as it is a grey-market car?

thicker sway bars, few stickers in engine bay, rear fog lights and lower gearing would be some of many differances.

Best regards

Thanks man. Sounds like pretty much a wash when comparing a US '96 C2 to a ROW '96 C2.

Anyone have a comment on how the value would be affected one way or the other?

Euro, or "tourist," delivery doesn't necessarily make it a Euro car.

I'm sorry I was not clear. This is a car that was originally intended for sale and use in Germany. It is not a euro-delivery US market car. It has option code 499 which means "Version for West Germany".

I'm very interested to hear folks thoughts and opinions on owning a grey-market 993 in the US.

Okay, got it.

I think it's hard to say - there are very few gray market 993s in the US - importing these cars was much more popular with earlier cars, such as 911s, 930s, and to some extent 964s. There's no cut and dry answer.

boy...lower gearing... almost worth any other tradeoffs for that Euro gearbox... you could go 10 yrs and never touch 6th gear in our cars if street use

I believe 96 and on Euro cars have the same G50/20 gearbox as the US. Only early 94/95's had the G50/21. If you can check out the car, look under it and check the stamp below the gearbox which should tell you if it is a 21 or not. Indeed the G50/21 makes a huge difference.

IIRC there are a few (early 96) that have both the varioram and the G50/21.
