Dear friends,
the LSD in my 993 is out and I am thinking about buying a RS LSD....any advise?
I use to track the car once per month but is not a racing car....HD'S, M030 springs and RS sway bars
thanks

Quaifes are not recommended for track work, although the lack of decel lock up might not make a difference to you. I have a Quaife in my Miata and find it to be fine for, ahem, brisk street driving.

For years the normal 911 lsd was 40/40. The street 993 used 22/40 or 25/65 and RS used 40/65. GT sells 40/60 or 50/80 the latter is more of a track only unit.
The xx/xx numbers don't tell the full story either, preload and # & make up of the disks changes the feel.
For most dual purpose cars most of the time the 40/65 is a great compromise

It's very possible but not likely, depending, of course, as Bill mentions, on your definition of reasonable. I bought a new Guards LSD for $1700, IIRC, and spent another $380 to install it. I think it was a very good deal.

I have a new RS CS LSD listed for sale in the classifieds (it is from a G50/32 transmission). New from Porsche it's $1995 according to my dealer, I'm selling it for $1500.
A new Guard unit is about $2400.
