I love my Cooper. MTH software, Milltek exhaust manifold with TUV 200 cell cat and Milltek exhaust, ITG air filter, it's not an S (I've never even driven the S) but a very fun and practical daily driver, and with the mods still gets 27mpg. It would be perfect if RWD.

Its slippery slope is pretty much done, but the 993's just began.

DACH ordered today...

I've got a 1973 Morris Mini Van, a car I've owned for 24 years. It's a delivery-van type without windows on the sides. I re-build it to a 1275GT engine.

Has anyone been to Vegas lately? Went two weekends ago and there was mini parked outside the Four Queens downtown. It was flat amazing. Here is crapy pic. I kick myself for not taking a full pic (it was with my cell phone).

Two weeks ago was the AMVIV "A Mini Vacation in Vegas". There were over 500 Mini's in town for the convention at the Palace Station. We had registered for the event and even had our room for months in advance and then Robert had to go ruin it and get a job...... we couldn't go..... So much for being retried and now un-retired. ANyway, we heard that is it was a blast. They even had a cruise on the Strip with a Police Escort and everything.... NO GUYS...not THAT KIND of an Escort.....

I drove an MCS last week and loved it. Just like a go cart. Fast, handles great, great gas mileage and cheap. I'm dumping a Lexus in Sept and need a DD. The MCS fits the bill and my wife loves it. I'm amazed to find this thread here as I can't believe that I'm considering one after a lifetime of big and expensive DD's.

C Way 27, how was it in the snow?

I know I kind of hijacked the whole 993 forum with my original post, but I had to share my enthusiasm with my Porsche buddies. I did manage to restrain my urge for cross posting to the Racing & DE forum, though.
The Cooper S is a really impressive car. With luck, I will get used to FWD.
BTW, my car is being built today. First time I ever bought a British car (which in the past would have scared me!). Of course, its really a BMW.
Should be good in the snow - it had better.
I ordered mine with LSD, which should help. Dealer will tell you that electronic traction control is enough, but you can never have too much traction

If I'm going to get one by Sept, apparently I need to order it by June. Can you let me know how you like it once you've have had it for a while? Thanks.

Sorry guys for staying OT.

My wife pciked one up last November ... fully loaded it was over $35,000 plus tax and license. Added Mach V springs to lower it from the SUV look....

Well ground clearance was screwed with me putting H&R springs but beside that, this thing was a tank. and drove like it was on rails..... even in the snow.

Regarding snow, we just had 400+ inches this winter in Park City. I purchased a wheel/winter tire set from Tire Rack in the fall. The tires are very, very good, but the car lacks enough weight to really be competent in the snow. I'd say the Mini is fine in up to 3 inches of snow and on the ice. Anything more than that, and we take the Land Rover (a deep snow BEAST, btw).

In the summer, I run 17" factory wheels with runflats. My winter tire specs are:
*195/60 QR15 Bridgestone Blizzak Revo 1

Here is a pic of the Mini with the Porsches taken in November:

The only reason I'm not driving one right now is the "bend you over at every step" approach of the dealerships. I loved the Mini but they gave me half of the price of my trade in that the Mazda dealership gave me towards a Mazdaspeed 3 and would only budge $250 off the MSRP on a leftover 2007.

Ironically, I traded the Mazdaspeed in on the Evo a month later but in retrospect, the Mini probably would have been a far more practical, rational choice as a daily driver.
