I have the "zips to the headliner" version, came with the car. I just removed it last month because at 6'3" my head kept rubbing on the windblock when it was folded up (top up). Not a major annoyance but enough that after 16 mos. I decided to take it out. With the front strut brace in the trunk there's no good place to store it in the car so it stays in the garage.

The avatar shows the windstop in place in the car.

I just installed the non-zip version from Sunset. Here are a couple pics...

It does NOT fit with the DAS installed.

I made my own for my 964 and have the template. Cost is about $150.00.

Exactly......

Cool, looks bigger/wider than the zip in type. I would assume it would block more. It looks just like the OEM BMW one I have in my e30 convert. How exactly is that mounted in the car? Do you drill holes or is it attached to the frame of the top? What are those stretchy hook straps hanging down supposed to hook to? Lastly, what did this version cost? TIA

The mounting is done with a set of plastic caps with mounting holes in the center. These replace the plastic covers where the 2 bolts are on the top transmissions.

The rear of the windscreen has a bar that folds down and sits in the space where the top material folds down into.

The strech hook straps don't seem to hook to anything. Or at least they don't seem to fit anywhere. I haven't quite figure those out yet.

I have talked with Sunset about the windscreen fitment. It seems from the instruction that this windscreen was developed for ROW cabs. The pictures in the instructions show the bar and strech clips mounting to a rear package tray like the coupes have? I think only USA and Canada cabs had the upright seat belt mounts but I have not confirmed my theory yet.

I do like the how it mounts and stays in place when the top is up or down. The cover for the cab top mounts just as before and the flap is tucked in.

The cost from Sunset was 367.00 plus shipping.

I can post more pics if anyone is interested.

Thanks Bill and Jason for posting your pics,

Jason - is your version a quick install/remove as well? Also are the only mounting points on the replacement caps for the transmission bolts? Could you post a pic of the bar that goes behind the seat?

Thanks,
Brian

I backed my car out of the garage for the first time since last November. I took a few shots of the windscreen. (Don't mind the dust!)

Dave,

Thanks, those photos are great and help me go forward with confidence. I want to add a roll bar and the windscreen. BTW, with the windscreen up, does it help reduce down the wind in back of the screen as well? The reason I ask is I was wondering if it helps keep the headliner from flapping in the wind. Thanks again.

Yes, this version is a quick install also. takes less than a minute. The 2 arms mount in the caps for the bolt covers.

I'll take a pic of the rear bar tonight.

I debated ( and still debating) between the 2 styles myself.
I like how the zip in works with the roll bar and folds up above it but I have a 3 year old that rides in the back (in a car seat) and the bar and windscreen must be removed anyway.
