FWIW, I have a '96 993 and do not need to press in clutch to start the engine. I Think I read some where that the clutch interlock didn't start until the '97 or maybe '98 models.
"edit' ; However, That doesn't mean I'm avocating the use of lighter weights of motor oil, or anything else for that matter . I've always used an oil in the 15w50 to 20w50 range, but I live in the deep South-east where the temps reach over 100f (and the humidity way above 100%) .
