I have a question the group should be able to answer. Is there much difference between a 964 tiptronic transmission and a 993 tiptronic? Is the 993 beside being newer an upgrade over the earlier transmission?
Also I thought I read about putting a steering wheel with the shift buttons on the wheel but need to change the steering column to put the new wheel on.

you will probably need to change the column as the 993 is the same as the 996 and to put a 996 wheel on the 964 you need to install the different column. The 996 wheel will fit on the 993 with no issues, a lot of people have that mod.
sorry don't know about the transmission

If you've got a broken Air Con Compressor go to your local Toyota Dealership where the Nippon Denso Compressor off a Toyota Supra will bolt right on to the Porsche mounting bracket and give you the fastest fridge in town! I had that problem in Kuwait when I lived there in temperatures regularly topping 50 C, and the aircon was a $4,000+ estimate from the OPC. A local aircon specialist (there were lots of them!) fitted the ND compressor for a coupla hundred bucks and it worked fine.
