The UK rules (I think from memory most of the rest of Europe - correct me if I am wrong) are that red lights are for rear (brake) stop lights and rear side markets lights, the brake lights being more intense - brighter - and the only other use of red lights is for rear high intensity fog lights....hence turn or indicator signals cannot be red......I think that is it..........
On a seperate not, why does the US not incororate reflective particles in their road markings....you know the lines in the middle of the road that we must not cross. In the UK and I think most of Europe, these lines are reflective (and no I dont mean the reflective cats eyes every 100 feet or so) and show up really well at night, esp in rain (the US variety DONT) thus making it easier to follow the road.......thoughts

David is right about the colour of the rear lights in the UK. With the OE all red lights that came with the C4, the indicator lights flash amber (I think the indicator section of the light is amber on the inside with a red external "top coat" so the whole light panel looks red).
