Default Shifter Boot Replacement

I searched and found nothing, which leads me to believe its terribly simple, and thus Im almost hesitant to ask......but. I got a new shifter boot and rather than go prying around trying to figure out how it comes off, does anybody know the steps to replace this item?

many thanks in advance.

push down along the left hand side of where the boot meets the plastic console.
There are two metal clips (both on the left) that are holding the metal wire frame of the boot. Once you get that side off, the rests are very obvious. Install is opposite of the removal process.

i don't know if this will have anyone looking at it 16 years on, but does the question not get asked then, maybe a new thread...i must now remove the shifter leather/****/boot all the way, rosanna!, yeah, and replace with a new one... do i just yank 'er up and off, or is ther a twist involved, or...sure i'll figure it out... but so far great info....many thanks if any of y'#all are still around...even if you're not...

If it's the stock ****, remove the skirt and pull straight up... with force.

With “force” is the operative word. Be careful not to hit yourself in the face. Ask me how I know.

If its a 4WD it will have a clip that needs to be removed first!
