As the comedian David Brenner said, "People had told me money would solve 95% of my problems. They were wrong, it has solved 99% of my problems."

And that 1% can be a bitch though.

Money did buy me some happiness in the Red Light District of Amsterdam the first few times I went there.

When I stroked a check for $37,500 on September 12, 2005 - money bought me happiness.

In the form of my Polar Silver dung beetle. Love it.

I accept your verbally binding offer. Easiest $400,000 I've ever saved!

See money does buy happiness. So when do we close?

For you, I will have it detailed when the enclosed-transport pulls up.

According to this you'll be as happy as can be as long as you make enough for one C4S each year.

Money buys freedom. Freedom to do what I want makes me very happy.

Money can't buy you happiness, but you can rent it for awhile. Money may not buy you happiness, but lack of money will bring you misery. Money also can provide you with enough stimulus to distract you from your unhappiness. So there ya go.

Hopefully you had enough money left over for the shots.

But that's a narrow view. Having enough money to be comfortable and secure buys a kind of happiness (contentment is better) that makes it easier to derive happiness from other things that have nothing to do with things/toys/purchases.

Here's something to think about: If you could take a few $ thousand now, and give it to yourself as a teen-early-20-something, you'd be creating net happiness. Then think about someone just like you--age, kids etc.--but poor and worried every day about just meeting basic needs much less anything extra. Give that person some of your toy budget, and you'd be creating huge multiples of net happiness. And think how happy it would make you to do that.
+1 - Well stated, Jon

To me, it doesn't buy happiness, but makes a hell of a down payment. Kinda goes along with the earlier post saying it's an enabler...
