Default fluids question

I just bought a 96 993 Coupe and when I first drove it hard 150mph+ I noticed it leaked T/A fluid and a little oil. This only happened once and leaked for a few hrs until cooled down. I now know that the car has been overfilled both engine oil and tranny fluid. The Porsche dealer says they have to be drained and refilled but I was wondering if I couldn't just drain out a little to proper levels. The seller just had the fluids changed but obviously overfilled. I know this is a stupid question but this is my first Porsche and I want to make sure. Thanks in advance.

Since the 993 has a dry sump oil system, you could stick a tube down the filler pipe and syphon out the excess. You'll need to remove the flexible insert at the top of the tube first since it has a mess at the bottom. No need to completely drain and refill.

Thanks. But what about the T/A fluid? There is a fill gauge on the housing and the level is about 2" above cold max with cold engine. It actually reads above Hot Max when engine is cold.

I live in Lexington Ky and work in Georgetown Ky. I drive I-75 in a straight shot to work every morning at 5:45 am. The traffic moves fast and is 3 lanes. I have a 3 mile stretch b/4 my exit that is usually void of traffic and with the concrete center wall there is little chance of police in the area. I just bought the car and wanted to see what it had. It was extremely smooth up to 152 and felt like there was plenty more.
I did notice a slight T/A fluid leak after that highspeed run but now know that it is overfilled by a lot. I'm going to try and drain some out this weekend but with a current temp od 24 and no heat in the garage I might wait a few days for warmer temps.
I hope that by draining some of the T/A fluid to proper level it will stop my leak that only appeared after the hard run.

I'm not familiar with the Tiptronic transmissions - is there a vent somewhere on the housing that could allow excess fluid to weep out?

I do not think so. I ordered the parts for a T/A fluid flush and refill. Will see if that makes a difference. I noticed that at full throttle it didn't want to to drop into 4th gear. It sounded like a rev limiting chip cmoing into play. This problem started only adfter the high speed run. Have only driven about 2 miles since ( in past 10 dyas). Small leakage ( a few drops) present on garage floor. Hope it's nothing serious. I can always hope...........

Why can't I just loosen the drain plug and drain enough out to proper level?

There is a pop off vent gauge on top of transmission.
You are not hurting your tranny with over-fill but with pressure.
GO SLOWLY.
Have a drive in D for a few miles and come back home to warm the tranny.

Let the car running in PARK position and check level.
Turn car off and remove a bit of oil by unbolting the
bottom bolt on the side of the pan next
to the gauge. (BEWARE OF HOT OIL SPRAY)
Let the oil come out slowly and do steps of half a quart.
RE-run engine in park to check level.
Do not tighten the bolt hard, the washer is very soft.
The tranny at normal level has 9 - 10 quarts.

The ashhole who filled it up, did that while car was NOT running.
Level should be done with engine running @ PARK position.

Do the right level, and your tranny will shift like a charm.
