Default i might buy this car, anyone know anything about it?

seller said the doors and hood are steel, i guess the rest is fiberglass and faded. seams don't meet up properly. got the original 3.0, mileage is probably super high but supposedly runs good. power top has a busted cable among other issues. i am more concerned about the value, since i don't mind the work, but i have to strip and repaint the whole body for starters. he wants 14k. oh, and it's on an '80 SC chassis. also, the front wheels are closer to the front bumper as opposed to being centered in the wheel well.

Whoever worked on that yellow car was most likely the same person that worked on this red one.

You are buying $14K worth of headaches, hidden surprises and bad memories. You can find a true, unmolested 80's SC for the same amount.

Like others said...run!

How come? it's your money, but a car like this is probably a complete nightmare. That the front wheels aren't centered in the wheel wells is a great indicator of the level of "craftsmanship" that the builder put into the car. Oh, the top's not working, too. Oh, it has a 3.0 liter SC motor. Oh, the bodywork doesn't match up (please tell me that the hood is opened and not latched "closed"). Oh, the paint looks like hell. I'll bet there are at least a dozen other moderate to major details to this car, including but not limited to a salvage title, that this car suffers from.

If you're up for a real project and want a challenge, this car may very well be it. I'd rather spend $14,000 on an average 964 or a nice 3.2 than this car.

Good luck.

When a closed hood looks like that there might be a problem.

yeah, makes sense. i certainly don't want a head ache, just a fun project since i have a lot of free time lately and a lot of skill. an '80 3.0sc is a pretty simple car, so if the title is clean, what do you think it's worth?

i can't understand why the front looks like this. it's too high off the ground and the wheel isn't in the center of the wheel well.

Ask a junkyard how much they'll give you for that car and you'll know how much is worth.

Don't ask questions; just go ahead and buy the car. It is your destiny.
