Oil Pressure Sender R&R

Oil Pressure Sender R&R
Hi all,
Looks like I have an oil leak from either the sender, breather plate gasket or hose. I did a search but I couldn't find a detailed description of how to R&R. I have the airbox removed but I can't even see the sender nevermind getting a hand on it. Seems like the only way to get at it would be to remove the intake manifold or drop the engine. Not sure if I am comfortable doing either one.
Is this a DIY or leave it for a pro?
97 C4S BTW.
Thanks

My sender is acting up too. Pressure reads above the pegged mark. All other indicators are normal. Consumption is 1 qt / 6K miles. Reliable shop told me it is a drop engine job. Could be done without dropping, but labor would be the same. Not urgent, so we are waiting in case something else comes up.

it is possible to do on a 95 993 without engine drop, but on 96+ with varioram either you have to do it with engine drop or remove the varioram intake runners. it is located behind the intake runners next to the SAI valve.
Leave it until engine drop is what I say....

I had the same problem and took it to my mechanic for repair. It is not easy to get to. Unless your pretty do-it-yourself savy I would take it to your mechanic. Mine is a '95

Mine's not got a/c, but I don't believe it's hard to unbolt the compressor. Once out of the way, you remove the plastic shroud on top of the fan housing which should give to enough room to get your arm all the way in there to do it. I've replaced my varioram pipes that way and tightened up the breather pipe. On a '95 it's even easier. I've got short arms too!

NO NO NO.
I have swapped oil pressure senders in and out 5 times one day.
You remove the airbox ONLY. Do not remove shroud, intake, compressor, NOTHING
Remove the airbox base, take a torch light and introduce it with your right arm on the back of the engine.
Two 10mm bolts and you retrieve the sender with the temp sensor.
The seal from Porsche is green.

The pressure sender is locted in the middle/back of the negine, under the air pump on the left side of the SAI valve.
Did you have to remove the air pump/SMOG pump to get to the sender? Maybe ROW cars don't have the air pump, the last I recall the airpump blocks the way.
The only way I can imagine possible is that you squeeze yourself into the engine bay sideways and reach back there.

Agreed with Robin. I don't see how you can get to the pressure sender w/o removing the SAI pump.
However, if you are going to replace the oil sender seal, get the GREEN Viton seal!!!
