Default Saw a Boxster spoiler malfunction - should I care?

Hey -

I was on the road here in San Antonio and saw a boxster in the lane next to me with his rear (idiotic) spoiler up all the way on the passenger side and all the way down on the drivers side (looking even more silly than normal).

My first (rennlister) reaction was to immediately speed up to try and get beside him to let him know that he had this issue. It occured to me that if I cannot see my spoiler in the RV mirror this guy did not have a chance, and if my car had a similar issue it might go un-noticed for some time.

Alomst immediately I had second thoughts because I have always hated those cars and think in general that they are nice for ladies who are young and unmarried but otherwise useless. Having second thoughts, I chose to ease back and let him go on about his merry way.

Now I ask, am I a jerk who should welcome all p-cars with open arms or was I justified in my second (smug) reaction? Do you waive to the boxsters? Be honest....

Thanks

if they wave to me, ill wave back. but i wont initiate it.

if im in my 911 and see a boxster the first thing i think is "atleast its a porsche. but, man youre corny." just being honest. lol

edit:: also coming from the other point of view, if i'm in my 330ci(which is entry level, but i have modded it to be a trophy winning show car), i dont wave to a Z8 or even expect the nod from him, just because he's in a bmw too lol.

Was the road straight or twisty? On a straight road you could've probably caught up to make him aware of the problem. Twisty??.....probably wouldn't have caught him anyway....

He wouldn't have seen you anyway - he was probably sharpening his scissors or counting his tips.

It's simple...Rule of thumb says that I wave to any 993's and any older generation Porsche (964's, 3.2's, 911's, 356's, etc, newer generation should initiate the wave as the rule of thumb states, and if they do, I respond.

I wouldn't wave to anyone, but to hate a boxster is silly. They are great cars for what they are.

Whether or not you wave to a Boxster I think has nothing to do with whether or not you let a fellow motorist know that their car is somehow broken. If someone had a flat tire next to you at a red light, I assume you wouldn't think twice about what sort of car it is and you would point it out to them. Same thing for the spoiler, be it a Boxster or a Miata. The only exception I could make was for a POS Civic whose primered bodykit was falling off.

Wow, I guess some people are so insecure about themselves they have to belittle other car owners. To me a Porsche is a Porsche.
