Default 993 Rear Spoiler Parts

Hi Everyone, I have only had my first Porsche (1996 993 C4) for a couple of months so still getting used to all the parts and systems!!!.... Just recently the rear spoiler has completely died on me. All I get is the warning light showing that the spoiler has not deployed at 50mph. The manual override button has no effect at all. I've checked the main fuse and that's fine. I will attempt to test the motor with a 12v meter and also the micro switches. Does anyone have any other easy checks to perform??? Also, yesterday speaking on a UK based forum a guy mentioned that Rennlist members may know where to get hold of a replacement control unit for the spoiler (part 964.618.212.00) if this is what is in fact is malfunctioning of course. Also I hear that an alternative RUF unit is available - any info on this??? Also, is it the case that the 993 system is slightly different from the 964 interms of the electrics rather than the mechanics??? I gather that there are some relays for the spoiler under the passenger seat on the 964, whereas on the 993 it's this control unit in the passenger footwell that does this job??? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks. James. (I am based in the UK)

Sounds like the perfect time to install a fixed wing.

I had a similar issue with mine this past summer. There is a plastic cover over the drive mechanism that contains the microswitches for the up/down control. A plastic cover from one of the bolts inside this cover can pop loose and jam under the microswitch. I had only found this after starting to check all the relays and fuses, etc.

Hope this helps.
