Don't forget that the different design fan blades on the older 911 also gives it that distinctive air cooled whirling sound.

Under the rear deck there's no insulation glued to the car itself so that's an easy bolt off job.

However if you want to remove more weight, the rest of the insulation is glued and is hge pain in the *** to take off!!!

Install a solid (plastic) front trans mount and you will have all the mechanical sound you want

Robin
I asked about this a month or so ago. can you retro the older style fan on the 993 to get the fan sound? i know chris is right, noise = loss of laminar flow= drag= energy cost, but... can a straigt blade fan fit the 993? anyone done it?
thanks

Wanna make your 993 sound right? Just get some of Robin's RSR modified mufflers ...

I've got 'em on my black cab ... and just waiting with baited breath to get 'em on my 6-GT3 which is VERY QUIET compared to the black cab ... save but for when you get her up in the 6000-8400 rpm range.

My friend has this set-up with his 993....
Robin's RSR muffler and catbypass, it sounds amazing...

the early 911's with carbs and sport mufflers sounds totally different, the sounds of carbs are amazing

I have decided to keep my 993 stock mufflers and just replaced with a motorsound airbox, this set-up sounds good...

My modified '74 Carrera on the other hand is loud enough, best of both I guess.
